Bunong

Cambodia
The Bunong are an Indigenous people of the highlands of northeastern Cambodia, particularly in the Mondulkiri region, whose culture is deeply rooted in forest stewardship, animist traditions, and ancestral relationships with the land. Bunong communities have long practiced sustainable agriculture, spiritual ceremonies honoring forest spirits, and community governance grounded in collective responsibility. Today, Bunong leaders and elders play an important role in protecting their ancestral territories and preserving cultural traditions while advocating for Indigenous rights and ecological conservation in Southeast Asia.
