1. Who we are
ORIGIN ("we", "us", "our") runs the website ourorigin.earth and the ORIGIN global gatherings, satellite events and flagship festival. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
We are responsible for your personal information. You can contact us about privacy at any time at info@ourorigin.earth.
2. What we collect
- When you sign up for updates: your name and email address.
- When you register a gathering or event for the global map: your name and email address, the event or gathering name, its city and country, whether it is public or private, and any other details you choose to give us.
- When you contact us: your name, email address and whatever you write to us.
- When you use our website: information collected through cookies and similar technology, such as pages viewed, the website that referred you, your device and browser type, your IP address and approximate location (country or city). See section 7.
- When you open our emails: whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, sensitive information such as health details or religious or political beliefs.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
4. The global map
- Public satellite events appear on the map with the event name and city only. We do not show your name, email address or an exact address.
- Private community gatherings are not shown publicly.
- You can ask us to change or remove your listing at any time by emailing info@ourorigin.earth.
5. Donations
Donations are processed by third-party payment providers. They handle your payment details under their own privacy policies, and we never see or store your full card or bank details. We may receive your name, email address, the amount and date of your donation so we can thank you and keep records.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run ORIGIN, and only as far as they need it:

We may also share information where required by law, or with professional advisers where needed.
International transfers. Some of these providers store or process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where information from the EU or UK is transferred, we rely on the provider's legal safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies, needed for the website to work. These are always on.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager), which tell us how people use the site so we can improve it.
- Embedded content from YouTube and Vimeo, which may set their own cookies when you play a video.
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. They only run if you accept, and you can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of each page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
8. How long we keep it
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details.
- Map and event registrations: until 12 months after the event, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
- Messages to us: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and no longer than 2 years.
- Donation records: for as long as the law requires for financial records.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including if you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to delete it;
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it;
- complain to the data protection authority where you live.
To use any of these rights, email info@ourorigin.earth. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.
10. Keeping it safe
We use reputable service providers, secure connections (HTTPS) and access controls, and only people who need your information can see it. If a data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
11. Children
Our website and sign-ups are not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, please email us and we will delete them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make important changes, we will let our mailing list know.
